This weekend, Harbor Freight ran their highly-anticipated 20 percent off coupon, and today - Memorial Day - they had a one-day 25 percent off coupon. Since I won't have access to my dad's band saw once I relocate to Pine, I decided to pick one up...at a nicely discounted price!
Once I got to the trailer, the first task was to tear into that rear ceiling area and get it ready for boards. I carefully cut a straight line with the oscillating multi-tool, pulled the panels out and removed the old insulation:
With that done, I checked around the trailer for any odd jobs I could complete today. I went with closing the wall gap to the right of the door. It was a good first job for the band saw. Before:
I used the band saw to make both the rip cuts and cross cuts on this piece, and to cut out the notch. Very handy:
First piece installed beside the door:
After a quick brunch, I cut one more piece to fit below:
I just need to cut another length to reach the floor, then finish it with a nice corner trim to conceal that gap.
So...I'm already feeling like that band saw is going to turn out to be one of the most useful tools in my collection. I'm so glad I picked it up!
The forecast for next weekend is in the low 100s. So - other than some last minute prep for moving - this is probably it until the trailer lives in Pine. We've pretty much settled on June 12, so it's not too much longer anyway.
