Day 20

Another shorter day, but I wanted to knock one of the more dreaded tasks out of the way - getting those pipes out. I made an attempt with the cut-off tool, but it barely scratched the pipe. So my dad brought out his reciprocating saw for me to try...

And...success! The battle against the pipes has been won.

In the process of working around the counter, I became aware of the gap at the top of one of the cabinets.

At first, I thought the door was warped, but we both checked it with a straight edge, and it's fine. Dad determined that the wall of the trailer has a slight outer bulge, which is pulling the top edge of the counter inward, creating the gap mentioned above. I loosened the screws holding the front of the cabinet to the top frame. This is about how much further out the face of the counter cabinet area needs to be.

We're going to add a small piece of wood in between, which should be enough to even out that cabinet door gap. Also, the vertical pieces below this (that the drawers slide on) need to be replaced with slightly longer ones to make up for the difference. Work continues tomorrow!
