I was up too late last night, so of course I got up late this morning. Allergies have been on the attack lately, so my body was slow going, but two cups of coffee later, I was back in the trailer.
I wanted to close up the area above the nook, so I had to put supports in place to attach the plywood to. Once again, the ol' library shelf came through. I'm getting a lot of mileage out of that thing. I made three supports, one for the center, and one for each side. Test fitting the center one:
Time for more home made L-brackets!
Center in place, secured with brackets:
Side supports in place, Havelock wool in:
A few chops on the circular saw, some drilling and screws, and the plywood is in. The little gap at the top on both sides will be covered once the upper boards are installed. Also, I do need to get two more strips of that L-shaped edge trim for the bottom edge of these plywood pieces, just as a finishing touch.
I reused that piece of wood that I had discarded when I first started in this area. Now it's the end wall stud on the left. The blue tape is keeping tight a split that I repaired with glue. Secured with L-bracket:
Last top wall board in place, with wool insulation behind:
Starting the second row of wall boards:
I tried twice to finish the second row - on the first attempt, the board was cut long enough, but I neglected to include a little notch to fit the window frame on the adjoining wall (no picture now, but this will make sense later, when I do finish it). The second attempt included the notch, but it was slightly too short, and left a gap on the left, so I scrapped it. It was getting late in the afternoon, so I thought it would be best to come back to this another time, and shifted my attention to starting the window frame. I planed, cut, oiled and installed the top:
I had enough time left to do the same with one side board of the window frame:
By this point, I was running out of steam, and still had to bring in the laundry from the line and water the garden, so I quit. Up early tomorrow - hopefully I'll get some painting done before I run down to Payson for some side work.
