More cabinet doors getting a second coat:
Continuing to build up that window frame - top in place:
I'm out of fence boards long enough to span the width of the window, so from here on, they're going to have to be made up of smaller pieces:
Two of three:
Frame done. I'm happy with it:
Before I could fill that little space between the top of the window frame and the bottom of the cabinets above, I had to fix a "sag" in the center of the cabinet. Something heavy must have been placed in it at some point - the wood "floor" of the cabinet had been pushed down, breaking free of the screw which secured it. Easily fixed with a few new screws at different locations under the cabinet.
Once that was done, I started rip-cutting pieces to fit over the frame:
Three pieces:
I placed a wall stud right next to the left side of the window frame. Now I can start bridging the gap between the back half and the stove area:
Two boards plus insulation in place. The top one was notched to fit around the cabinet corner:
Four up. These boards started out lining up with the ones to the left, but due to variations in the height of the boards, they eventually drifted out of alignment. Ah well. Perfection is overrated:
I figured it might be a good time to mount more wall studs reaching down to the floor. I'd been using a 17 inch span between studs, but for this area, I increased it to 29 inches - the approximate width of the window frame divided by 2:
Fifth board up.
I had enough steam in me for one more board, so I pulled down another long wall board from the rafters of the carport for one of the two which will complete the span under the window. The next one will go up tomorrow:
I'll have to make a trip to Home Depot in the morning, because I'm almost out of screws and I might need to get some more boards for wall studs.
