Woo! I'm celebrating my 75th entry with... a second round of Covid! Yeah!
Thankfully, it didn't hit me any harder than a common cold, so even though we're a plague household, I was able to do a little work on the Beast. Side note: Sooz has been referring to the trailer as "Shazzard" (Shasta + hazzard). Which, of course, makes me the Duke of Shazzard. Awesome.
The Tried and True Danish Oil arrived this week. Behold...
The exact subtle golden coloring I was hoping for.
I was starting to pull boards off from the front-end work I was doing last week when I found that water had gotten in and mold had actually spread through the screw holes in the wood to the inside surface. I'd have taken a pic to document it, but I was too busy throwing a shit fit and caulking every suspect seam on the exterior of the trailer with sealant.
The caulking wasn't my best work, but rain clouds were looming, and I wasn't sure if this stuff would have enough time to dry thoroughly, so it was a bit of a rush job.
I decided to pause work in the front, and start oiling the ceiling boards over the doorway. What a contrast between the oiled and not-yet-oiled boards. The color in the wood really stands out. Unfortunately, so do flaws - like those lines on the dark board, which were left by the planer, and should have been sanded out...
Since rain was incoming, I paused for the evening. But, I did place a few paper towels inside the trailer, in areas where the leak had occurred before, so I could check in the morning.
