Day 24

The main task of the day was cutting and installing replacement drawer slides, since the old ones no longer fit after the cabinet adjustment.

I had been storing some scrap wood at my apartment from an old bed up in Pine - finally brought it to the trailer today. Two of the boards will be the perfect size for the drawer slides.

Placing the slides. The slots on the inside of the cabinet face are a bit too wide, so we cut little shims from an old wooden paint stir stick to get a tight fit.

Lots of running today - between the drill press and band saw in dad's shop, to my table saw, to the trailer. One by one, we got the slides installed. Secured with counter-sunk screws in the front...

...and metal brackets in the back.

Aside from some cosmetic clean-up and painting, the drawers are done!

Finally, we cut and installed some support pieces on which the counter will sit.
