Started today with more scraping and unscrewing, this time on the back of the roof. I finally removed the crumbling PVC vent pipe.

Time to repair that rotted beam in the center of the ceiling. Dad's idea was to remove the damage, and insert a "graft" to reinforce the beam.
We took turns whittling it down with the cut-off tool, the router and the oscillating tool...finally chiseling out the last of it.
Graft in place:
Two new boards in place on the passenger-side ceiling. Frame-wise, this one is almost done.
And finally, back to the mid ceiling - we cut and installed to crossbeams to replace the old rotted ones.
