Day 122

I was contemplating the trailer this morning. I couldn't be inside it for the first couple of hours because - apparently I spoke too soon - the stove is still off-gassing like a mo-fo. You just don't really notice it unless you're burning it HOT.

Anyway, I was up in the house, sipping my coffee...and I came to the realization that I have zero sentimental attachment to it at this point. If I were to look outside and see it burning to the ground, I would probably feel more relief than sorrow. I wonder if I'll actually be able to adapt to living in something that I feel this way about.

Anyway...on to the work. I started off by pulling almost everything out of the Beast. Lumber, boxes...everything. I wanted to get it all out so I could do some much-needed cleaning and organizing. I found a rubber bumper that I had misplaced. My intention was to mount it where the door meets the carport, so my door wouldn't get any further paint damage from rubbing on it. And there it is:

Moving along... I ran those new fence boards through the planer, then cut them down to size to finish that wall section over the counter space.

Time to close out this area. Before I could mount the plywood I wanted to use here, I needed to install something to mount it to on the outside wall. Scrap to the rescue, yet again:

A couple of cuts on that thin plywood sheet, plus a little sanding...ta-da.

Since I'm literally making this shit up as I go, I decided in the last moment to continue the fence board wall on the back. This meant putting in a couple of wall studs:

Even though the right side of this space has a panel, it doesn't go all the way to the floor. So I just cut down another section of plywood and mounted it over the existing panel:

Next up, cutting fence boards for the back wall. As always, it's a bit of a process, but I'm getting pretty fast at it now. And look at that...I'm finally covering that metal "patch" that my dad and I did...when was that? Toward the start of the year? Feels like a hundred years...

One more board installed...

If I have enough shorter pieces of fence board, I should be able to finish that back wall tomorrow. But, while I still had steam today, I focused the last bit of the afternoon on cleaning up the trailer. It almost looks strange to see things this "open" in here. I've gotten so used to the chaos...

As the sky was growing dark, I started another hot burn. Still off-gassing. Maybe by tomorrow it'll get better.

Good night!
