In the middle of the night, a rain storm rolled in. Thankfully, I'm in the habit of covering the saws, etc. with heavy large trash bags to protect them from any moisture which drifts under the carport. The whole morning was rainy, so I wasn't able to really do anything in the trailer until after 1pm.
I started by clearing a path to the other front wall so I could see where I left off...back in July. Back then, my progress was stopped by persistent leaks, and these three boards were test-fitted, then left in place. Well, now's the time to finish them up:
They're all unfinished and have no insulation behind, so I pulled them off and got to work on oiling them. While the first one was drying, I patched a large hole in the lower corner where the wall, floor and front wall meet. Not sure how I missed that before - it was big enough for a mouse to pass through. I had to build up little bits of wood in there and then flood it with Flex Paste to seal it up. Hopefully, that was enough.
Anyway, I got the insulation cut and placed the boards:
As I was cutting the insulation for the last board, the plastic handle on my scissors - which had already been cracked - gave out, rendering them useless. The only other pair we have in the house doesn't cut wool very well - I tried them once when I misplaced these scissors. I'll have to track down a good pair to continue, so the wall came to a halt. Which is okay, because the weather was starting to look like it was going to turn bad.
The low tonight is supposed to be 29, and I could feel the late afternoon turning cold, so I lit a fire in the stove. It's still off-gassing, but not as bad. It apparently takes 20-30 hours of burn time to completely clear out the smell. I've been wearing a mask any time I've been in the trailer while burning.
The last tasks were hanging a framed pattern which I transplanted from the Tempe apartment, then oiling and hanging that little shelf from last week:
