Day 98

After another morning of work in Payson, I arrived in Pine around 1:30, and got to work shortly after 2. It had been raining, and more rain was coming. I couldn't set up all of my tools in the carport, since the folding tables that I usually use have been packed for an event this weekend. Having only my single folding workbench does make things more challenging.

I wanted to plane some of the shorter fence boards that haven't been dealt with yet - they're needed for various things I have planned in the trailer, so I spent a bit of time on that. The edges are still pretty rough on most of them, but I'll take care of that soon:

One of those boards was chosen to be the right side of my rear window frame, continuing the work from last time:

I wanted to complete the frame, but it started pouring outside, so I had to change my plan. I figured since I'm stuck inside, I might as well knock out a smaller task I've been putting off. The ceiling boards around the flue needed oiling. This required removing a couple of them, so I got to it. The metal ceiling plate also had to be temporarily removed:

Any time that boards - especially ceiling boards - need to be taken down, it's a pain in the ass. I've got them set in pretty tight with each other, so I risk damaging boards (or neighboring boards) when I remove them for oiling. It REALLY makes me wish I would have done this step when first installing them.

Everything back together. It looks nicer, at least:

Right about the time I was putting in the last screws, I felt a drop of water hit my arm.

F U C K .

The spot in the center of the ceiling - where I had temporarily removed a water-stained board - was dripping again. That space where I've pulled back the wool a bit...that's where the drop came from. I could feel a bit of moisture up there. So...my efforts with the liquid rubber on the roof we're apparently not enough.

Determined to end the day with something going right, I reattached the recently-painted end wall for the cabinets, which looks decent, I think. Not that it matters - most of it will probably be covered by a metal heat shield in the end.

Done for the day. Weather permitting, perhaps I can continue with the back wall tomorrow.
