Day 72

Since I didn't get into Pine until noon or so - and it was a hot day - I missed my morning work window. I didn't get to setting things up until the late afternoon.

The wood stain that I ordered arrived this week, so I decided to test it out on one of the boards from above the door. This is "Golden Oak" - the lightest of the shades available from Tried & True. I chose this brand because it's one of the safest brands out there. It's actually suitable for cutting boards.

It's pretty, but I think I was picturing something for more subtle...just a slight darkening of the tones already in the wood. This is a bit too orange. I decided to continue my search online.

The rest of the day was spent using wood filler putty to patch up the grooves that once held cheap vinyl trim. When I'm done, this will be sanded smooth and painted.
